The American Radio and Relay League is the largest governing body within amateur radio. It is a nationwide club that provides services to all amateur radio operators. It was started in 1914 by Clarence Tuska and Hiram Percy Maxim (You should read his, his father’s, and his uncle’s Wikipedia pages:
