Exam sessions are held on the first Saturday of each month (except for the month of June) at 10:00 am at the Cedar Hills Baptist Church, 2470 SW Roxbury Ave, Portland, OR 97225. Please register at least 24 hours before the session to ensure you get a seat. Some walk-ins may be allowed if space allows.

The June exam session will be held at the SEA-PAC Ham Convention in Seaside.

All exam elements are administered at each session. You may verify any exam schedule at the ARRL, as any changes will be posted there.

To Register:
We have transitioned to using Exam Tools. Tests are administered in person using tablets. We also allow your personal device, like a tablet or laptop.
Go to Hamstudy.org and click on the “Find a Session” link at the upper right of the page.
To narrow down the sessions shown, select “In-person”, “ARRL-VEC”, and a zip code of 97225.
That should narrow down the sessions to an in-person exam in our area.
Click on the link to the session by the OTVARC VE Team to register.
Note that a FRN is needed before registering.
If you are considering taking more than one test, select all the tests you would consider taking.

Things to note:
1. The test fee is $15 – cash, check, or money order.

2. Bring a photo ID (driver’s license, ID card, etc.)

3. If already licensed, applicants upgrading must bring the original AND a photocopy of their current license.

4. If not licensed, please register for an FRN number. This can be done at the FCC registration system HERE.
