Many amatuer radio clubs, associations and groups have their own awards.

As the ARRL is based in the US, the JARL is based in Japan. Japan has a very healthy amatuer radio population. Ask any conestor how many japanese hams they have talked to in a contest! With this healthy population comes a large array of hams on the air to have contacts with.

How JARL awards are different
The ARRL accepts LOTW confirmations and physical QSL cards. The JARL is different, because they only accept physical QSL cards
